Do you know what the Bible says about clothing? God actually has laid out for us in scripture how he wants us to dress as ladies. If you want an easy way to please God, this is it!
“The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.” KJV
1 Timothy 2:9
“In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;” KJV
Very simple really. Pants pertain to men, dresses & skirts to ladies. Also the Bible tells us that we should wear modest clothing and not be flashy.
This modest way of dressing was news to me 12 years ago before I started attending Faithful Word Baptist Church and learned through preaching and Bible reading the proper dress for ladies.
It was quite easy and yet painful all at the same time for me to get used to this type of dressing for ladies. You see, shortly after I started attending church I was in a horrible car accident. My car was totaled and I had a broken toe that was broke even up into my foot. I was then wearing a cast halfway up my leg & the easiest thing to wear was in fact a dress! Ha! In the time it took my toe and foot to heal, I got used to wearing skirts and dresses for everything.
Dresses and skirts are actually very comfortable. In the summer they are much cooler than wearing pants. For us Arizona ladies, we need all the cool breezes we can get! If you feel you can’t do something in a skirt, should you really be doing it? Or do you have to do it if it’s just a hobby? It’s probably not ladylike anyway. And what’s more important? Dressing in a way that you like that happens to be sinful or just wearing what’s pleasing to God?
Women’s Clothing preached by Pastor Anderson is a great sermon on the subject for your spiritual education.
So you say, “I get it! I’m ready to dress in a way that’s pleasing to God but I can’t really afford to buy a whole new wardrobe right now!” Well true dat! I couldn’t either back in the day. What I did is just purchased a few skirts at a time (one black of course!) at thrift stores that matched several tops I already had and got started that way.
