Happy New Year Everyone!

Do you love starting fresh a whole new year? I sure do! I’m excited to get this ball rolling! This year there are some areas I really want to improve on, both spiritually and personally. To help motivate you with your goals & keep me accountable I’m posting mine here.

Read More Bible: Last year I barely read through 1x. In prior years I’ve read more so I’d like to step it up again. By doing 1x through in my own personal reading plus reading to Caleb 1x through, I’ll double the reading this next year.
Bible Memory: Memorize verses with church memory program. Do this in the morning or while on a walk.
Soul Winning: Go weekly again. Improve skills.
Be a better help meet/wife: I’m reading Created to be His Help Meet by Debi Pearl and will improve in needed areas. Highly recommend this book! It will seriously put you in check and help you have a happy, successful marriage. I spent so many years alone and am so thankful to have my husband now, I want to be the best help meet I possibly can for him.
More Fun: Honestly I’m kind of a stick in the mud and have a hard time stopping work to have a little fun. My son really needs me to learn this. And I’m sure my husband would enjoy more playfulness too! 😉
Lose weight: This year I’m determined to lose those stubborn 7.5 pounds to reach my pre-pregnancy weight. I’m doing a few things to help me reach that goal. They are:
#1 Morning coffee with a little cream only (I used to also use honey) and any other coffee through out the day Black only.
#2 Drink 3 quarts of water daily. No more iced tea with honey, except special occasions. This is a great sermon on why we need to stop the sweet drinks.
#3 No modern wheat. Which means I have much work to do in learning to bake with Einkorn, the original wheat. So far I can do Brooklyn Blackout Cake, Fudgy Dark Chocolate Brownies, Bacon & Egg Quiche, Hamburger Buns, Tortillas, Pizza Crust, Pancakes, Crepes, Dinner Rolls & Crackers. A couple of them I’ve perfected but a couple still need tweaking.Really working on sandwich bread to get it to my husband’s liking. 🙂
#4 Get moving! Go on a walk or do some type of exercise at least 3x per week.
These are my main goals, though I do have others that are Home, Instant Pot (Yes I finally got one, thanks to my awesome hubby!!), FWBC Postpartum Pals, & Blog related. I’ll cover some of those in future posts.

What are your goals this year? What can I help you accomplish this year?

  1. I'm with you on many of these. I got my einkorn cookbook and flour is ordered. I tried to drink my coffee this morning and gagged. Is there a trick or hack to make it drinkable?! Lol

  2. Haha poor Karen! Me drinking it black is more of a deterrent because I don’t like it black either. My 1st cup of the day is with cream, any additional cups are black. Actually I prefer half & half and honey. I’m cutting out the honey and most cream to lose weight but it’s definitely going to be an acquired taste or I’ll just be drinking more water instead. I drank a 2nd cup black today and it wasn’t good at all! Lol In the winter I want more coffee so it makes it worse. Hmmm Maybe we can add some non sweet spices like cinnamon or flavor like a Mexican coffee but no sweetener & no alcohol of course! Do you have a good Mexican coffee recipe? I used to get an iced Mexican coffee as a treat grocery shopping but the grocery store quit carrying it. I’d love to duplicate it-it was so good! Good job on ordering your supplies for Einkorn baking. I’m excited for you!! Keep me posted what’s working for you. 🙂
