Let me start from the beginning…

Some of you may know me as Second Sunday Amanda. My New Years Resolution in 2006 was to “Get my butt in church!”, Pastor Anderson jokingly reminded me that I said one day as we were reminiscing my 1st visit to the church. So many embarrassing moments! Anyway, that was the beginning and I have never looked back. That was the best resolution I’ve ever made, and probably one of the few that I’ve actually kept this long. It also happened to be the second Sunday of existence for Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, AZ.

The first thing Pastor Anderson taught me, after making sure I was a believer, was my purpose in life: soul winning. When we met, I was at the most miserable, rock bottom part of my life and asked Pastor Anderson “I know I’m saved but what is God’s will for my life?” I also told him I knew God would not be pleased with me right now and that I wanted to change. He then took the Bible and showed me verses on soul winning. Here’s a sermon clip about our first conversation. Once I learned what I was supposed to be doing, his lovely & very patient wife, Mrs. Anderson, took me out soul winning and showed me how it’s done. That was almost 12 years ago now. If it were not for the Anderson family and Pastor Anderson’s preaching, I know I would not be here today. What a blessing they have been and are to me even now!

Now I’m married to an amazing man, Mr. Wright, who truly loves the Lord and works so hard to provide for me and our handsome little boy.  Mr. Wright is also a long time member of FWBC, relocated out here from Maryland. My husband seems to know me better than I know myself sometimes and treats me like a queen. He is also a fun and very loving father. Honestly I feel like I live a fairy tale of a life now. So many good things, challenges, and learning for an insurance sales person turned homemaker. God is so good to me!

My latest passion has been helping ladies and sisters in Christ from church that are just postpartum. My good friend Sarah had this fabulous idea to support moms by providing a meal train and other domestic needs after having a baby. It is so much fun serving our moms and working with all of our admirable & very helpful volunteers. Sarah and I could never pull off such a wonderful big time job without them! These ladies are all truly dear to my heart.

My blog will be about my family, homemaking tips, fond memories from the early days of FWBC and now, mommy moments & my latest ministry of helping ladies postpartum through our FWBC Postpartum Pals group.

  8. Thank you so much Adel. Some days are hard and many times I fail. But most days I feel like I’m living a dream that is so good I don’t want to wake up from. Ha! It takes a lot of work and much patience. No one said it’s easy. But it’s amazing how much happiness it brings to serve God and try to keep his commandments. Other life matters just seem to fall into place in time. I’m praying you are here soon too!
